About.

Annebet Philips lets you look at the familiar with a new, different perspective.

By interpreting common things in uncommon ways, Annebet designs products that have something recognisable and surprising at the same time.

Add to that her love for bold shapes, unexpected elements, clear lines, and firm hand drawn lines, and there you’ll have it: designs with an optimistic approach, a tad of humor and an almost cartoon-like signature. Designs that put the extra to the ordinary and a smile on your face.

In her own words:

“I love to play with common, archetype shapes and add a new, uncommon perspective. To me it’s all about being open to see familiar things in a new way, to try a new point of view. Wether it’s about someone’s opinion, the current status-quo or the shape of the everyday things around you.”

Annebet works best with design labels that share her authentic style and like to see and do things differently. ‘When collaborating I seek a finished product that genuinely reflects both my identity and the identity of the label I’m designing for.’ Annebet worked and designed for both (niche) labels and international companies such as Seletti, Mogg, Tonone and Tommy Hilfiger. Her work has been on display at international design fairs and galleries like the Salone del Mobile Milan and Mint gallery London.  She has been mentored by Richard Hutten, and fun fact: not long ago, Barack Obama took a seat on one of her chairs.

Having an artist’s heart and an engineer’s mind (Philips holds a cum laude master’s degree Industrial Design Engineering from Delft University of Technology), Annebet combines a creative artistic touch with technical and commercial feasibility. She loves making prototypes by hand, an artistic manual touch can often be seen in the final design. ‘I love the entire process – from sketch to reality – and find it important that a design is both original ánd can be manufactured on a larger scale.’
