‘In-Between-Time’
In-Between Time
In-between time, or Tussentijd, is a project that emerged during a period of pregnancy—
a time marked by a sudden allowance of space and time, yet also by impatience towards an unknown outcome.
What does an artist do in the in-between time? When there is an urge to create, but when letting go of the outcome?
What do I make without a concept or predetermined plan?
What shapes emerge when I let my hands take the lead instead of my head?
The project shows irregular, organic forms that seem to grow and move toward something.
They appear to writhe, pushing their way outward—trapped, yet longing to expand.
They resemble ideas eager to come to fruition, yet waiting for the right moment.
The most personal often turns out to be the most universal.
Could it be that we are collectively living in an in-between time?
A period of transition, where old structures are crumbling while the new has yet to fully take shape. A time when we feel the urge to create and grow, yet also experience impatience and tension, as we cannot yet fully grasp what is emerging
